"I've always enjoyed handwork, creating shapes and discovering form in what I see. While I have had various types of jobs, common threads have been visual and working with my hands, from drawing maps to landscaping. I've also tried different media arts and crafts but have found metal a versatile medium in which to experiment. My first exposure to metalwork was a high school jewelry class. I then spent some time casting silver rings with my father's dental working equipment before going in other directions. When my daughter was graduating from college I thought it would be fun to make a necklace for her. I enrolled in a jewelry and metalwork class taught by Tom Logan at Metropolitan State College in Denver and found metalwork so enjoyable I wanted to continue full time. So I took more classes from Craig Wright at Metropolitan State College and then from Lucinda Brogden at Front Range Community College in Westminster, learning new things from each new instructor. In 1999 my work was in the student division of the show "Metamorphosis" in Manitou Springs Colorado.

Most of my work is made from small pieces of silver, gold or stone I put together in various combinations until a design emerges. After joining and finishing, the parts become integrated into a new and different form. The process of learning both visual and technical aspects of this work continues to intrigue me, and hopefully will provide pleasure to others as well."
