"I was raised in Gallup, New Mexico. My parents are Robert Douglas and Honoria McClanahan. I graduated from Gallup High School in 1973. I married Robert Martinez from Wagon Mound, New Mexico, in 1973. We have 5 children, Kelly, Colleen, Kendra, Kimberly and Bryan. We live in Bosque Farms, New Mexico.

My environment has greatly aided in the inspiration and development of my work. My studio is a peaceful place where my creative energies are at their best. I am a self-taught potter. I now enjoy teaching others what I have learned over the years that I have been making pottery. I have been making my award winning style of pottery for over 21 years. I am well known for my contemporary black-on-black. I have won many awards for my traditional micaceous clay pottery as well. My unique style has been widely copied by many craftspeople because of its outstanding beauty. I have won many major awards in New Mexico. I have also won national recognition for my work."
